According to the report, the CCI is looking into preventing misuse of data in all transactions, Chairman Ashok Kumar Gupta said.


Gupta, however, did not comment further on the Facebook-Geo deal.


Gupta added that the CCI was also examining whether new parameters should be included in its assessment criteria because the possible mergers were clear, but some mergers and acquisitions were falling short of scrutiny.

Features such as "strong network impact, high return to scale and huge data access" could encourage digital agencies to behave in an anti-competitive manner, Gupta said, adding that the report did not specifically address specific cases.


Gupta has not set a deadline for a decision on the Facebook-Geo review. As a rule, if the CCI does not decide on the contract within 210 days, it is approved

According to an application to the Competition Commission, Facebook has argued that the deal does not change the competitive landscape in any relevant market. Fillings points out that Facebook and its units have set up a digital marketplace as part of their investment in Toss App Inc Geo.


CCI is investigating Amazon and Walmart Inc's Flipkart on the special arrangements between retailers and some mobile phone brands and the treatment provided to some sellers. Traders are protesting against e-commerce companies blaming the industry for anti-competitive activities.

Facebook's investment in the Geo platform is the world's largest tech investor and private equity fund in the digital arm of RIL, which has raised Rs 1.04 lakh crore. India is the fastest growing internet market and tech companies around the world want to find a place here.

गुप्ता ने फेसबुक-जियो समीक्षा पर निर्णय के लिए कोई समय सीमा निर्धारित नहीं की है। एक नियम के रूप में, यदि CCI 210 दिनों के भीतर अनुबंध पर निर्णय नहीं लेता है, तो इसे अनुमोदित किया जाता है

CCI खुदरा विक्रेताओं और कुछ मोबाइल फोन ब्रांडों और कुछ विक्रेताओं के लिए उपचार के बीच विशेष व्यवस्था पर अमेज़ॅन और वॉलमार्ट इनको के फ्लिपकार्ट की जांच कर रहा है। व्यापारी प्रतिस्पर्धा विरोधी गतिविधियों के लिए उद्योग को दोषी ठहराते हुए ई-कॉमर्स कंपनियों के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन कर रहे हैं।
